Where Do We Find Love?

In a world that is constantly showing it’s hatred of one another and anything or anybody that shows authority over them, where do we find love? Do we find it in harming others verbally or destroying their property to find a satisfaction in making others miserable like we are? As you take a step back and try to make sense of the world we live in it seems painfully evident we are heading for destruction. The Bible constantly speaks of this demise and shines the light of hope for those who will confess their need for a Savior and sincerely repent of their sins.

I recently heard a sermon from the late Ravi Zacharias in which he stated that believers must recognize the urgency in getting God’s message to all those that are dead in their sins, a condition that must be corrected or they will be lost forever! That didn’t seem that profound but I think knowing it’s serious and actually acting on that knowledge are two very different things. I don’t want to blow my witnessing opportunity by coming on too strong, so I try to wait for opportune times to bring up the subject. I obviously hope one of us doesn’t die before I have a chance to witness, but that isn’t guaranteed so I need to take my mission more seriously, as it truly is a matter of life and death.

So many people are trying find love in all the wrong places (I know it’s an old clichĂ© and song lyric) and the “false temporary loves” obviously vary greatly by the individual. So many lives lost searching in vain for the love that is instinctively placed inside each of us. I know I have used these verses before but as Paul stated in Romans 1:19-23 “For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them. For his invisible attributes, namely his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse. For although they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened. Claiming to be wise, they became fools, and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images resembling mortal man and birds and animals and creeping things.” I feel like the modern translation should be exchanged the glory due to our creator and God for professional athletes and movie stars, who are many times exactly the opposite of being worthy of any type of praise, much less a praise worthy and deserved by God.

The past week we have been dog sitting our daughter’s dog, Bronson. The moment you make eye contact with him you immediately feel a warming in your heart as he is always so happy to see you and wants to bring you joy. He rapidly surveys the area for at least one toy to present you with as you approach him. His whole body wiggles as his tail swooshes from side to side in exuberant celebration of reuniting with him. This love he is showing and the recipient feeling that same love cannot be a reaction based on millions of years of evolution. If man would have evolved as the theory proposes it would have been survival of the fittest and immediate destruction of competitors with no apathy, not to mention love being a learned emotion. God has exposed us to his love and we can see it all around us if we will just take off the blinders of hate being proclaimed in our streets and fueled by the media. If you sincerely want to find love, turn off the news and open up your Bible to find out for yourself what our loving God and creator wants to tell you about how much he loves you! I pray you have enjoyed our walk together today with loving little Bronson, and also that you can realize your need to walk with our loving God before it is too late! Hope to see you again soon. God Bless.
